IC-3Rs organizes a webinar series on the 4Rs (Replacement, Refinement, Reduction & Responsibility). The third webinar will welcome Prof. Dr. Stef Aerts who will discuss 'Responsibility as linchpin of animal experimentation ethics'.

Digital Twins are making possible a revolution in human model development by leveraging data from multi-omics analyses, medical and imaging data, environmental and life style big data that are continuously updated by a multitude of biosensors at an unprecedented scale. This event is designed to educate the next generation of scientists committed to advancing science ethically using non-animal methods for research and testing. The program provides an overview of in vitro, in silico, and in chemico approaches and their many applications in basic, translational, and regulatory science to replace animals. Attendees will participate in scientific talks, career development workshops, poster presentations, demonstrations, networking opportunities, etc.

The 22nd International Congress of the European Society of Toxicology In Vitro (ESTIV 2024) will be  themed 'Application of NAMs in Drug Discovery and Drug and Chemical Safety Assessment'.

The ESTIV congress will start with a pre-congress workshop and will offer 15 scientific sessions, and lunch sessions hosted by industry sponsors and non-profit organisations. More information will follow soon, as the congress program is still developing.

Within this 1st WI3R symposium the German Research Foundation (DFG) will grant the Ursula M. Händel Prize to scientists who have made exemplary and sustained efforts to improve the welfare of animals in research. In particular, this includes the development of methods that contribute to the reduction, refinement and replacement of animal experiments. The €80,000 Ursula M. Händel Animal Welfare Prize is currently the largest prize of its kind in Germany, awarded every two years.
