LIVe2024 intends to be a unique exchange platform for scientists interested in in vitro respiratory researches, stakeholders from academia, pharma, biotech, chemical, tobacco, consumer goods, medical devices industries, CROs and regulatory agencies.

The meeting focuses on predictive in vitro lung models designed for basic research, efficacy and toxicity testing. It aims to present the state-of-art of in vitro lung models, and to map out the route for its future development and use.

The presentation of Ahmed Samir Mohamed Ali from the Technical University of Berlin, Germany will cover why it is important to replace animal components in in-vitro studies, addressing scientific and ethical concerns. Additionally, Ahmed Ali will report on the efforts as a bioprinting group to overcome the current limitations in having a xeno-free liver model with good physiological relevance to the human body.

Themed 'New evolutions in animal health and welfare', this event includes an afternoon of workshops and a full day of scientific presentations for laboratory animal users with a separate session for animal caretakers & biotechnicians.

The course aims at providing state-of-the-art knowledge on the recent developments in toxicological hazard and risk assessment. A limited number of lectures will provide insights in these developments, emphasizing the role of so-called New Approach Methodologies (NAMs). It includes 2 online webinars on 28 May 2024 and 30 May 2024, 2 days of in-person training on 2 & 3 July 2024 and a follow up online call on 29 August 2024

The EUROoCS2024 Conference will showcase the latest scientific advancements in the field and favour discussions on technological, industrial and regulatory challenges/opportunities. Topics such as (multi)-organ and disease models, organoids-on-chip, PK/PD modelling, technology platforms, read-out assays, standardization and qualification and toxicity among others, will be addressed.

In this interactive course at a beginning master level, you will learn the best practices of advanced in vitro models, regulatory aspects, (stem) cell biology and technologies for testing medicine and/or substance safety testing as well as how the results can be validated, translated and implemented into human medicine. This course aims is to create awareness on the potential of human-based physiological models for human health research and replacement of animal testing.
