During this webinar, Ahmed Samir Mohamed Ali from the Technical University of Berlin, Germany will cover why it is important to replace animal components in in vitro studies, addressing scientific and ethical concerns. Additionally, Ahmed Ali will report on the efforts as a bioprinting group to overcome the current limitations in having a xeno-free liver model with good physiological relevance to the human body.

The 3Rs Centre Utrecht and the Transition to Animal-free Innovations are organising  together with TPI-Utrecht and the National Committee for the protection of animals used for scientific purposes, a conference aiming to connect NAMs to the 3Rs framework, exploring the best way forward for human-based biomedical basic and translational science.

The programme of the conference will soon be posted and will consist of presentations and (interactive) panel discussions in multiple thematic sessions.

LIVe2024 intends to be a unique exchange platform for scientists interested in in vitro respiratory researches, stakeholders from academia, pharma, biotech, chemical, tobacco, consumer goods, medical devices industries, CROs and regulatory agencies.

The meeting focuses on predictive in vitro lung models designed for basic research, efficacy and toxicity testing. It aims to present the state-of-art of in vitro lung models, and to map out the route for its future development and use.

This webinar will feature two presentations:

• Good practices for in vitro studies - Dr. Amanda Ulrey - President of the Institute for In Vitro Sciences
• Qualification principles to assess Organ-on-Chip-based methods for use in regulatory contexts - Dr. Milena Mennecozzi - Scientific officer at EURL ECVAM

Themed 'New evolutions in animal health and welfare', this event includes an afternoon of workshops and a full day of scientific presentations for laboratory animal users with a separate session for animal caretakers & biotechnicians.

The course aims at providing state-of-the-art knowledge on the recent developments in toxicological hazard and risk assessment. A limited number of lectures will provide insights in these developments, emphasizing the role of so-called New Approach Methodologies (NAMs).
